Description
Origami was built for the 2021 inaugural Mini Transat by Peter Kenyon, who successfully completed the Mini Transat and was delighted with Origami’s performance.
Origami was then sold to Keri Harris, who recently completed the inaugural Mini Globe Race, finishing in a creditable second place. Keri has sailed Origami some 24,000 nautical miles around the world.
With the ownership of Origami now being handed to Dean, he will again be taking her across the Atlantic. First though, Origami will have some shore time for refitting, which will reflect some new rules for the class and to replace worn items, such as sails and standing rigging.
Sailing solo can be tricky close to land, but once out in the ocean, more sleep can be had, and the boat will self-steer using an Aries self-steering system.
Dean is used to getting little sleep, having rowed 2 hours on and taking 2 hours off constantly for 41 days previously.
More details coming up about the self-steering system.
